Jim Schettler
Senior Pastor

Pastor Jim Schettler joined the family of First Baptist Church
in January 2007. Jim grew up in Michigan but spent the last
thirty-one years in Pensacola Florida. After graduating from Pensacola
Christian College, he became the youth pastor for the Campus Church. After seven
years of Bible teaching and youth pastoring, he served for eighteen years as the
senior pastor for Campus Church, being heard and seen on Rejoice Radio
and Rejoice in the Lord television broadcasts. He and his wife
Marilee have been married for twenty-six years and have three
sons, Ben, Luke, and Drew. Pastor Schettler's excitement for the Lord and
heart's cry to bring the lost to a saving faith in Jesus Christ
permeates his preaching, teaching, and outreach. |

Joel Mikkelson
Assistant Pastor
|
Pastor Joel Mikkelson and his wife Kelly moved to Santa Maria in
January 2002 to join the family and ministry of First Baptist
Church. Joel grew up in a pastor’s home in Wisconsin and
attended Maranatha Baptist Bible College where he graduated in
2001. He is blessed daily in his ministry as Assistant Pastor at
First Baptist, overseeing the children's ministries, the
bus ministry, and AWANA. Pastor Joel also teaches a Bible class at
Valley Christian Academy. He and Kelly have three children,
Lindsay, Matthew, and Katelyn. |

Paul Shepler
Youth and Music Pastor

Pastor Paul Shepler and his wife Lydia moved to Santa Maria in the summer of 2007.
Paul graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2004. He grew up in a
Pastor's home in South Carolina and has served the Lord throughout his life.
Paul oversees all the music at First Baptist Church as well as special functions like
our Live Nativity which debuted this Christmas. He enjoys working with teenagers and
seeing them mature in Jesus Christ. |

Jon Barbrow
Activities Coordinator
|
Pastor Jon Barbrow and his wife Celia moved to Santa Maria and joined
the ministry in July 2009. Jon graduated from Bob Jones University in 2006,
and he has worked in education and ministry since then. In addition to helping
activities run smoothly, Jon oversees our college and career ministry.
He also teaches computer classes at
Valley Christian Academy. Jon
and Celia have one daughter, Leinani. |

John Edmonds
Assistant to the Pastor

Brother John Edmonds and his wife Penny moved to Santa Maria in
September 2009 to join the family and ministry of First Baptist
Church. John received both his undergraduate (1988) and masters
degrees from Pensacola Christian College. He has the privilege
of assisting Pastor Schettler in many areas and also teaches an
adult Sunday School class. John and Penny have two daughters, Emma and Elisabeth. |
